I was one of 12 artists chosen after submitting my design to decorate a fiberglass animal form for the Humane Society of Missouri. The pieces were then auctioned off to raise money for the Dr. Dolittle Fund which provides veterinary care for homeless animals. The "Mosaic Mutt" is made up of individual dog treats that I hand painted, glued, and grouted to create and interesting and beautiful mosaic designs. I wanted to allude to the fact that mutts are often a mish-mash of breeds by using individual pieces to make the art piece. I also wanted to keep it lighthearted and comical so I opted to use real doggie biscuits as my art materials.
